Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or date of birth entered into one of the search boxes here goes directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and returns its results. We do not keep or log what you type into those tools.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us is kept so that we can answer it. Messages stay with our team, and we do not pass them to anyone outside the organization unless the law requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Server logs pick up basic technical details each time a page loads:
- Your device's IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device type
- Which pages loaded and how long each stayed open
- Any referring page that brought you here
- Page view timestamps
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, which are small files a browser stores on your device. They show us which pages get traffic and where readers leave. Analytics providers help turn that activity into aggregate numbers. Browser settings can block cookies at any time, and some parts of the site may behave differently if you do.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping pages available and loading quickly
- Passing a search request to the partner service that handles it
- Seeing which pages readers use and which need work
- Diagnosing and repairing technical problems
- Delivering advertising that may match your interests
No Warrant Data on File
Nothing on this site is a database of warrants or of personal case information, and we do not compile or sell one. What we publish is general guidance about where Sanilac County records live, how to search public case information, and how to ask the issuing court or the sheriff's records office for a copy. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Nothing we collect about visitors is turned into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes here are run by outside companies. Whatever you enter is processed under that provider's privacy policy rather than this one, and the provider decides how long it keeps data and with whom it shares it. Read the provider's policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
This site links to county and court pages, state court search tools, the sheriff's office, and outside search services. Following one of those links takes you to a site we do not control, and that site's privacy policy applies from that point. Read it before entering personal details.
Some advertising partners track activity across websites to target ads. That tracking happens on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information can reach:
- Search providers that handle the queries you run here
- Analytics services that measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that place ads on our pages
- A court or agency when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard security practices for the data we hold. No site connected to the internet is perfectly safe, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we collect.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Michigan's public records law governs requests to government offices rather than to a private site like this one. The Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.235, sets out how a person asks a Michigan court or agency for a record, and MCL 15.240 covers what happens when a request is denied. Those statutes do not apply to us, because we are not a public body. What you can ask of this site is narrower:
- Ask what information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct something that is wrong
- Ask us to delete what we hold
- Ask us to stop a particular use of your data
